I want to look like this.
you don’t get to look like this from wishing it.
i am not one of those curvy gals that thinks “real women” are voluptuous. i think real women have real women’s bodies. some women are thin, some are not. some women are tall, some are not. i’m going guess, based only on the fact that she’s on a runway, that this isn’t her “real” body. she probably doesn’t eat enough and/or works herself out too much.
i wish we could celebrate women being shaped as they are. nothing wrong with being thin, nothing wrong with being heavy. nothing wrong with working toward your own ideal body, so long asyou love what you are.
i wish that no woman felt that she “needed” to be any size.
Oddly enough, I’m a feminist and I don’t believe any OTHER woman “needs” to be a certain size. I just happen to dislike my body and the way it looks. That is my right, considering it is my body and I find it so odd how many people act as though it is not my right to dislike how I look. I find curves beautiful, just as I find very thin figures beautiful. But when it comes to my own figure, I feel sickened looking at it and no, before it’s inquired: it is not because of the media.
I am very oddly shaped and have almost comically large breasts (naturally), and this bothers me, so I would prefer to be thin. However, I have a few different medical problems that have led me to be naturally around a size 8, which looks wonderful on millions of women, but not on myself.
Additionally, I feel as though I “need” to be because, to be honest, the way I looks often disgusts me but, due to previously stated medical issues, it is nearly impossible for me to lose weight. It’s not some deep-rooted emotional issue; when I’ve been smaller than I am now, I’ve felt more confident and healthier. So yes, I “need” to be much thinner, because I know for a fact (out of experience) that I will feel better.
Now, if I could only convince women to stop being offended by other women’s self-images, as though it has anything to do with theirs or discredits their ideals…
And I you.
